TallyCast #3 - Hurricane Dennis

Thanks for listening to the TallyCast. If you enjoy this podcast, please consider voting for us at Podcast Alley.

Today's podcast focuses on the recent Hurricane. I've never been real fond of anyone named Dennis and this last storm did not help. Great photos of the storm damage in the Tallahassee Democrat. During the storm howerver, the tdo website could have been a little more useful to the residents of this area by providing frequent updates. The same could be said for the website of the Florida Division of Emergency Management. Local radio wasn't much better.

Our first musical offering today is Don't You Know, written by Mike Rychlik and performed in 1983 by Flipside. The cut is part of a CD produced as a tribute to Burt Norton. In addition to tunes by Flipside, it also includes cuts from the Labamba Brothers and B.B. Jam. If you'd like to inquire about getting your own copy of this amazing CD, you should drop an email to harvestgypsies@nettally.com. Today, many of the same folks who were in Flipside are members of the Harvest Gypsies and can be heard at venues across the area.

There are some interesting Hurricane Dennis photos on the photo blog, Flickr.

This weekend is the annual Swamp Stomp at the Tallahassee Museum of Science and Natural History.

The MidNiters are playing at Ole' Hart in Quincy Friday evening.

RFA is playing at Big Daddy's on Saturday evening.

We close the podcast with a tune by Tallahassee band, The Soular System. Jes Bradley, the drummer in The Soular System is the son of Ed Bradley, the drummer in Flipside, the first band we played on todays podcast. You can find The Soular System at Tobacco Road in Miami on July 23. The tune is "Chicks Dig Rock and Roll"
